When you think about going to treatment for addiction, your mind might jump straight to therapy sessions, group talks, and lots of emotional work. And sure, that’s part of it. But for Jeff B., his time at Sunflower Recovery was a full-on life upgrade — with great food, great people, and a great start to recovery.
Let’s take a peek into Jeff’s journey, in his own words.
“The staff here is excellent,” Jeff says.
What really stuck out to Jeff was the energy of the place (although he admits the therapy was pretty solid too). “I cannot stress enough how the positive impact of my experience at Sunflower has improved my life,” he shared.
From the moment he walked through the doors, Jeff found more than support, he found a treatment team that genuinely cared about his well-being. That kind of connection? It changes everything.
Jeff highlighted the “great classes, great counselors, as well as plenty of activities” — meaning there was always something engaging going on, keeping recovery hands-on and heart-first. Rehab should be more than just sitting around all day.
Whether it was a class that helped him understand himself better or a group activity that reminded him how to laugh again, Jeff found the structure and support he needed to grow.
Who doesn’t love a good meal?
“There’s plenty of good food, too,” Jeff said. And while that might sound like a bonus, he made it clear it was more than that. “I definitely came in there malnourished.”
Recovery is about healing the whole person — body, mind, and spirit. Sometimes, that healing starts with a decent meal and someone who notices you haven’t been taking care of yourself. At Sunflower, even the kitchen plays a part in recovery.
“I would recommend them to anyone,” Jeff said. Plain and simple.
Because when you walk into a place feeling broken and walk out feeling human again — stronger, fed, supported, and understood — that’s something worth sharing.
Jeff’s story is one of thousands. Everyone’s path to recovery is different, but support, connection, and yes — a solid plate of food — go a long way.
Thinking about taking that first step? We’re ready for ya.
